I've read on editor's/publisher's/agent's blogs that even though most will try to be fair, some just won't do business with someone they don't like or can't stand. It's possible to have a career without interacting much with other writers, editors, and agents, but interaction certainly helps. Of course, she fails to mention is that if you're an utter boor without a trace of redeeming social graces, you might actually hurt your career... :-) Byt the way, your second link doesn't seem to lead anywhere -- all I got was a blank page.
