Trying Out a New WordPress Theme
3 Comments Published October 9th, 2006 in blogging, blogs, software, wordpressBear with me a little here, folks. I’ve been extremely busy lately and on top of that I decided that it was time to get a new theme for this blog. I liked the old one a lot, but it just seemed to require too much maintenance to get it to look the way I wanted.
I’ve chosen a new theme based on the popular k2 theme, but with three columns. I’ve also added a new header image from a photograph I took myself. I’ll post a little later on about all of the stuff I’ve discovered and learned in this process. It’s amazing what you can do with free software.
I’ve made use of The GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program), an ftp client for Mac called Cyberduck and I’ve also started using a cool new text editor that many of you have probably already heard of: TextWrangler (sorry, Windows users: Mac only). I’ll update later with links to these programs.
Please feel free to drop me a line and let me know what you think of the new look. I haven’t had a chance to check it out on the latest version of Internet Explorer, but it looks kind of messed up on IE5.2 for Mac. I’m not going to worry too much about that because if you’re using IE5.2 for Mac, you should stop immediately and download Firefox.

I liked the old theme, but this one is much easier on the eyes, I like it.
Thanks, Chris. I think so, too. It was really difficult to customize the last one because of all the little images in it, too. I think this one will work out better, but I have to play around with the php a bit to get in everything I want.
