WordPress has released their latest update to version 2.0.5. This release includes, once again, a number of bug fixes (about 50) and security updates. For a more complete list of what is included in the patch, check out Mark on WordPress.
They’re apparently saving all the cool enhancements for a major release, that is, WordPress 2.1. I’m not sure when we can expect to see it, but given the pace of development, I would guess it’s not that far out.
My experiences with WordPress have been overwhelmingly good and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for trouble-free and extensible blogging software. I’m looking forward to more good stuff from the folks at WordPress.

I am soon going to switch to WP from blogger. Lately blogger has been worthless. Cannot publish, and other problems.
On another note, consider posts on spyware, keyloggers, etc and their removal. These days this is a big issue. Better still, start a separate blog on it. I am 100% sure I have a spyware installed on my comp. without my knowledge. I see loads of traffic coming in and going out even when I am not surfing at all. I don’t think that’s installed programs being updated, or ‘background noise’. As none of the preceding occur so regularly or eat up so much bandwidh. I have Macfee firewall which I lock/unloch to block that traffic but that’s a pain. I reckon some ‘guru’ whose ebook I may have downloaded has done this to me. Even though I never download anything other than .pdf.
Hi Syed. I don’t blame you at all for wanting to switch. I think most bloggers who end up getting serious about blogging end up using wordpress. It gives you so many more options and so much more control over your website.
I know Blogger has made some big upgrades since the time that I stopped using it, but these problems you mention are very much like the ones I experienced that made me move my blog. Blogger is great for very basic stuff, but for more advanced functionality and reliability, your own domain and hosting combined with wordpress is the best bet.
Spyware and viruses are one of the big reasons I moved from Windows to Mac, too. I’ve spent so much time trying to track down trojans and other malware on a Windows PC, that I just don’t have the stomach for it anymore. I do think that would be a cool idea for a how to or even a whole blog. I probably wouldn’t want to start a new blog on it myself, but it would be great for someone who has some technical know-how and a passion for helping others get rid of these problems. Maybe I could write a short how to that gives some of the basic tools for finding and removing malware. Thanks for the idea.
