Accomplishment Is Good For Your Psyche
1 Comment Published November 20th, 2006 in goals, jobs, motivation, productivityMondays suck, don’t they? I mean they can really suck. It’s even worse when the entire week feels like wall to wall Mondays. Ever have one of those weeks? Or are you caught in a never-ending series of Mondays, kind of like Groundhog Day? That’s what it feels like sometimes. There are ways to break out of this cycle, though. One of the best is to just set out each day to accomplish something.
Try this: Set one goal today, no matter how small, and get it done. Roll into your cubicle this morning and clear off your desk. File that stack of reports that’s been sitting there for weeks. Organize your email inbox. You don’t have to do all of this today. The trick is to pick something that’s been bugging you for a while and get it out of the way and out of your mind.
Then, tomorrow, set another small goal and accomplish it. Try to have a goal of some kind in mind for each day. You could make a list of some small things that annoy you. Buckle down and knock out the little things that drag you down. You’ll feel better that they’re done and you’ll be able to say that you got something accomplished today.
Next week review the things you have to do and think about your larger goals. Try splitting them up into smaller goals and ticking them off your list one step at a time. Those mountains we have to climb don’t seem so bad when we tackle them in small stages.
So, if somebody says to you today that it “Looks like someone’s got a case of the Mondays” tell them to screw off. You’re getting something accomplished today!
