I'm starting to use the Search Status plugin for Firefox with the Alexa Rank enabled, so I believe that should have the same effect as the toolbar. I'm also wondering if and how Alexa Rank and Page Rank are linked. Right now I still have PR of zero since this blog's so new, but after the next update I'll see if my Alexa Rank seems to be affected, too. I suppose we can expect an update in the next few weeks... The only surefire way I've ever increased my alexa was installing the toolbar and making a site my homepage. Sent the rank skyrocketing. Your post seems to clear the issue up. I'm still puzzled by the changes we're seeing and also by the differences between sites that seem to be fairly similar. I've been reading up on Alexa Rank and it seems that there are some sites ranking much better than mine even though we have about the same amount of traffic.
