Google Analytics Takes Forever to Load
Published January 25th, 2007 in SEO/Traffic/Links, googleI recently installed Google Analytics on Fresh Blogger. While I’m finding the information it provides to be useful, I’m concerned that it sometimes takes a very long time to load. In fact, I just give up on waiting for it to complete because I don’t have time to sit and watch it. There is a way to locally host the main javascript file that it uses and that would certainly help with the load times, but Google doesn’t recommend doing that because the file will then not be updated automatically.
I’m wondering how many of you use Google Analytics and are you experiencing the painfully slow loading times? If so, what do you do about it? Also, is the information provided by this service accurate and useful? I like having this kind of detailed data on my site traffic, but is it worth it if it causes the page to load slowly? If the script never loads completely, how am I getting accurate data anyway? Any answers or ideas you might have are much appreciated.

It is hard to believe that Google made that product. I face that same issue when I look at traffic. Generally it loads fast because I have none=P
LOL. I’m sure you have more traffic than me, now! You’re famous!
I use GA on my sites, and I don’t usually have slowdown issues. At times it does call a slowdown, but it’s not a normal thing at all.
Hi Leroy. Today it loaded quickly and I haven’t had a problem. Yesterday, it loaded so slowly several times that it never finished before I had to move on to something else. The code is at the bottom of the page so Fresh Blogger should load completely even if GA doesn’t. I’ll keep watching it to see how often this happens…
I gave up on it…
Hi Tavi. My slow loading problems seemed to go away the day after I posted this. Today, it’s loading just fine. I don’t check the stats every day, though, so I’m still not sure exactly how valuable the information is to me. Thanks for your comment.
