New Poll: How Much Money Are You Making From AdBrite?
11 Comments Published January 28th, 2007 in adsense, advertising, google, incomeReturning visitors will note that the AdBrite ad block in the right hand sidebar has been removed. There are a couple of different reasons for this. For one, it appears that it may have been in conflict with the new AdSense Terms of Service. Of course, since I like making money from AdSense, I’m interested in staying on the right side of that issue.
Another reason is that it just wasn’t making me any money. If it were generating some income then it would have been a good use of the space. Unfortunately, it wasn’t doing much. I had tried an AdBrite skyscraper in place of the AdSense in the left sidebar, but I removed it after a few weeks of seeing that it wasn’t bringing in as much as the AdSense was, and this despite the fact that AdBrite attempts to rotate in AdSense ads when they stand to make money (according to some algorithm). I placed the right sidebar ad there hoping that I could sell some text link ads. This just didn’t work out.
All in all, I felt like I gave AdBrite a pretty good try. I was disappointed that I wasn’t able to sell any text link type ads through AdBrite. I think they would have done better than the network ads that seemed to be not very relevant to the topics discussed on FreshBlogger. I may be willing to try again some day, but for now I think I’ll use that space for polls (at least until Text Link Ads accepts me).
The latest poll is up and since I know my readers as very perceptive, you’ll no doubt have deduced that it relates to how much money you’re making from AdBrite. I decided to throw this one out there for a couple of weeks to see if anybody is making any significant amounts. I put it together rather quickly, so if you have any suggestions as to what would make it better, please feel free to leave a comment or contact me.

Not using adbrite…
I voted $21-50 per month but unfortunately, its not as consistent as TLA for me. But still I’m really happy with the way things have gone and Im sorry that things didn’t go as well for you. TLA is the big money spinner so hopefully it won’t be long before you get accepted.
I’m also not using AdBrite, but I think it’s a slightly more personal ad network than just slapping AdSense on. But, yeah, it’s tough to beat the power of context.
Ever thought about rolling your own local ads, though?
Adnan, it’s great that you’re making money from it. I think you’re actually selling ads, though, instead of relying on network ads. Maybe it’s because you’re a famous blogging celebrity!
And, I’m going to try again for TLA, so wish me luck!
Hi Adam. I think you’re right, too. You have to spend more time tweaking your keywords on AdBrite if you’re going to rely on the network ads. I haven’t really thought much about getting my own advertising yet. I always thought it would take more traffic and a bigger profile than I have right now. Do you have any ideas?
I think you’re probably right that with a low profile, it’s best to wait. Still, you could plop up a little “advertise on Freshblogger” page, link it inconspicuously, and see if anyone bites. At least this way, when someone does bite, you get 100% instead of 50% or lower.
That’s a great idea. I’ll have to look around for an example unless you know of one offhand…
One recent one I’ve seen is Jonathan Snook:

He has quite an audience, so you’d probably have to tame those dollar figures down, but I think he handled the whole thing nicely.
Thanks for the link, Adam. I’m checking it out and I’ll try to figure out a way I can do that here. I’ll probably have to start with some pretty low rates, but you have to start somewhere…
Well, I am using adbrite for only 2,5 months. But it is getting close to 400/week now. Still there is a lot of optimizing potential though.
