Thanks to Ilker Yoldas of The Thinking Blog, FreshBlogger has a new look. I’m still tweaking some things in the template, so you will most likely see further changes in the next few days. I’m thinking of changing text colors to something that is closer to the new color scheme and maybe even changing the size of the text a little to make it more readable.
I welcome any feedback you may have on the new look. I’m very pleased with the great header image Ilker created and I think it really gives FreshBlogger a fresh new look. What do you think?

That heading is actually very erm… “fresh”
I like it
LOL. Thanks for the feedback. I like it much better than the old one, but I think I’m going to have to start going through my wordpress template code to trim the fat. This page is getting a little too big for my comfort. I don’t want to turn off readers because it takes 2 minutes to load. What do you think?
The only significant thing is that left and top navigation loading before the content
I suppose I would have to just move the content up closer to the top of the code. I think this will take me a little time to work out…
Yup, it’s very fresh. I think I like it. That header sure catches your eye.
But I’m with you on the bigger fonts Ray – even my Lasik-enhanced eyes have a little trouble with tiny words.
I like the new look! I think you should change the color for the Adsense square to be green as well.. blue and green just doesn’t seem to match IMO ..
The font size is good for me though
I like it, was Adobe photoshop or illustrator used to make it?
Gimpshop =)
Thanks everyone, for your comments!
Leroy, how does the font look now? I increased the size by about 20% and I find it a lot more readable myself. I’m usually looking at it from my 12″ iBook, too.
Maki, thanks! LOL. I think you must have dropped in right after I made the font bigger. I’m glad this size works for you, though. I’m trying to get the colors all changed over, but I’m afraid my template code is a mess and I’m pressed for time, so I’m doing it bit by bit. I totally agree on the color clash between blue and green!
Chris and Ilker: I should have known you used Gimpshop. Do you find it pretty easy to work with? I’ve used the GIMP, but I haven’t installed Gimpshop as I’ve never used PhotoShop before…
Well, Gimpshop is GIMP with the menus renamed to look like Photoshop.. for me it’s easy because I’m used to PS while studying at the uni.
Ray – the font is much much better. I can see it now without squinting
Hey Ilker, my biggest problem with GIMP is having all the separate windows and also the weird controls. These two things are probably the biggest barrier to widespread acceptance. It really is a powerful graphics package from what I can tell. Does Gimpshop put all the little windows into one, by any chance?
Leroy, the font size was one of the things that always bothered me about this theme. I chose 3k2 because of the 3 column layout and support for widgets. My original idea was to not modify it at all if I could help it, but that’s proving impossible. I’m thinking now that I’m going to strip out all the code I don’t need or don’t like and create my own version of the theme. Maybe I’ll post it so people can download it then…
That is the way to get links as I have hinted in the past.
Give Gimpshop a try and let me know what you think.
Also creating your own version of the theme is a good idea but I think you can resize the fonts by simply changing a couple of numbers in the code.
People should also be able to resize the fonts using their browsers. It’s CTRL and or CTRL and Mouse wheel up for Firefox.
Lookin’ good
It feels more alive now !
Hi Aniela. Thanks! I think so, too. I put up the first header image just as sort of a placeholder and to have something a little different. The new look just pops and I think will tend to keep more casual visitors here past the five second mark. Thanks for visiting and commenting!
Hey! I also noticed an increase in your RSS readers
Hey Ilker, I think this redesign can only bring good things for FreshBlogger!
