Trackbacks, Comments, and Blogger Relationships
Published March 18th, 2007 in SEO/Traffic/Links, advice, blogging, blogs, networking, probloggerLiz from Successful Blog is guest posting at ProBlogger this week and has written a great article about How a Trackback after a Comment Can Start a Relationship. The whole idea is that it’s best to leave a comment on a blog post when you link to it so that the original blogger can see that you are really trying to engage.
As I said in the comment I left on the post, this is great advice and is something I always try to do when linking to an article. I’ve never thought much about why I did this, but putting the two together makes a lot of sense. Trackbacks and comments are both important blogging tools as well as ways of carrying on a conversation in the blogging community. A comment shows that you’re joining in the discussion while a trackback takes it to another level entirely as you take the time to dig deeper into the topic at hand.
If you’ve read Liz’s writing before, you won’t be at all surprised to hear that this article is well-written and contains great information. After you finish reading her guest post, make sure to check out her other articles at Successful Blog.

Hi there and thanks!
I really enjoyed reading your perspective and I’m deligthed I came over. Now I’m going to have to write a post on the joys of guest blogging as a relationship starter.
Thank you, sincerely, for thinking my work was worth sharing.
Hi Liz. It’s truly my pleasure. I’ve always found your articles to be articulate, entertaining, and packed full of useful information. Thanks for commenting and I’m looking forward to reading that article!
