AdSense: What Are You Waiting For?
7 Comments Published April 21st, 2007 in adsense, blogging, blogs, income, moneyI’ve seen a lot of blogs out there without any advertising at all. There’s no problem with this, either. Lots of people are blogging with free accounts and purely for pleasure. If they have no interest in monetizing their blogs, then there’s no reason for them to worry about AdSense or any other advertising service.
However, quite a few bloggers would like to make some money from the efforts they put into blogging. Many times they’re just getting started and really have no idea how other bloggers are making money. If they do have some idea, they may not know how or where to get started. If this describes you, don’t worry. It’s quick and easy to get started with Google AdSense, the simplest online advertising available.
At the time I’m writing this, you can see examples of AdSense ads around this blog. The placements and number of ads will most likely change over time, but for now I’m making use of several different sizes and shapes. This is one of the best things about AdSense. It can be set up easily on the AdSense site and sizing, color schemes, and shapes can be chosen from drop down lists.
I don’t post very often about how much money I make (or don’t make) from this blog and other internet projects, but I know lots of other bloggers do. These tend to be pretty popular posts, too. I’m not ready to start revealing this information yet (possibly because I don’t want to be embarrassed!), but I can say that making any money at all from blogging is an awesome thing. A great deal of work goes into blogging and it’s a great feeling to actually get paid for it. AdSense is a simple way to start doing this.
AdSense is usually the first advertising service most bloggers try out. It’s not difficult and it’s possible to generate a few dollars a month to pay for hosting or other costs. If you have some traffic on your blog already, you’ll most likely be able to make a little money. With lots of traffic, it’s possible to make quite a bit. There are high traffic sites out there that make thousands of dollars a month from AdSense alone. If you haven’t started making money from your blog yet, click the link at the bottom of this post (yes, it’s an affiliate link) and be sure to let me know how it works out for you.

Hello, Ray,
You`re definatelly right. Is simple and often return unespected big results, making ppls to ask themself why they didn`t start earlier.
The only negative spot for google Adsense is connected to “cheat clicks”. Advice : do anything to avoid to click on your own adsense`s adverts ! Do not ask friends to click ! Don`t reward users toclick ! Google anti-cheat is ridiculous close to paranoic.

Happy cash-in !
Adsense is definitely a great way to monetize your blog. For a blogger just starting out with minmal traffic it may make more sense to use a something like http://www.payperpost.com where you can make money regardless of what the traffic on your site is like.
Great post overall, i clicked the affiliate link
Good advice from Valentin (above) about making sure not to click on your own ads. It can lead to your account being suspended, etc…
If you are interested in exploring other ways to monetize your blog, you might want to check out Postiecon, a conference coming up in Florida where celebrity bloggers are going to teach the rest of us how to maximize returns on our blogs.
Thanks, Valentin. Everyone who signs up should be sure to read the Terms of Service very carefully to get a good understanding of what is and isn’t permitted. I’ve heard some scary stories, but it seems like the majority of AdSense users stay on the good side of the rules. Thanks for your comment!
Hey Taylor. There are a lot of different ways to make money with a blog and payperpost is one that I’m seeing a bunch of newer bloggers using. I don’t have any direct experience with it, but I have signed up for ReviewMe. I’m still on the fence regarding putting paid content on this blog, but I’m not against it as a whole.
That conference sounds interesting. I could have used a trip to Florida a couple of months ago! Thanks for the heads up and the great comments!
Hey-hey Ray
SO Ã -propos for “where I’m at” with my (at-times-eep!)frenetic use of advertising, etc. – I REALLY need to ‘git mah Google’ back, heheh. I was – well, crazy(!), frankly, and was annoyed with trying to keep up with annoying and “I DO NOT SUPPORT THAT AUUGH!!”-type Ads. Working with Ads with INTEGRITY is freaking difficult, heheh
Well, for me anyways
Obviously (I hope.. hahah) the above “i do not support” yadda was only for some really REALLY awful content(content?WHATcontent?!)-based ad generation I was getting. I know, I know what to do. Just the TIME and INCLINATION. Heheh
Glancing downards (If It’s Not Hard, You’re Not Making Progess.. UNH!!!) – tell me ABOOT IT!! I mean – please! And OW (re: working hard and being your own worst/best motivator, arrgh. Erm. :\
) hahah – CLICK!!
Peace, Ray
(Thanks for posting this! It might set ANOTHER fire under my arse – GREAT!!! hahah
)

) (Seriously, you MUST be the first 'Ray' I've ever met. I don't even know how that could be POSSIBLE, ahahah - Hrm, other than my frantically awesome "grades 7-8" art teacher. 'sighs. RAYS R00L!]
*snickers* [still not over the "THAT'S MY NAME GIT YR OWN" 'bug', heheh - so I remained constantly amused
*RUNS!*
Hi there, Rae. Sometimes those content based ads can be pretty bad at matching ads to your content. For personal blogs this can be almost impossible as topics tend to change quickly and content might be covering many different things on the same page.
I’m glad you’re finding my articles to be motivating. I think I need to go back and reread some of them myself!
LOL. I sometimes go for years without meeting any other Rays, but I served on a committee at my day job a couple of years ago where there were three of us! Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
