DoshDosh: Technorati Favorite Exchange Meme
3 Comments Published April 27th, 2007 in SEO/Traffic/Links, blog tag, blogging, blogs, networking, social networking sitesI finally got around to posting on Dosh Dosh’s Technorati Favorite Exchange Meme. His idea was to see if how many bloggers would participate and get included in the top 100 favorited blogs on Technorati. If you haven’t yet heard of Technorati, it’s a sort of blog directory/social networking site that tracks and ranks blogs by link popularity, that is, how many other blogs link to those blogs.
Andy Beard has also contributed a lot to this experiment on his post: Technorati Favorites – Is This Evil, Lazy, or Just Smart? I’ve used his suggested technique of importing his technorati favorites OPML file into my own list of favorites. I believe I had something like 18 favorites before and now I have 694!
Many of these are blogs I’ve come across before and know about, but just haven’t thought to favorite. Many of the rest are new ones that I’m looking forward to checking out.
Maki (Dosh Dosh) and Andy list some of the benefits in their blog entries, too. They caution that bloggers shouldn’t expect a great deal of new traffic from this experiment, but that it does help to get your blog out there so that other bloggers can become aware of it. The more bloggers who know about and check out your blog, the more chance there is that they will find something interesting there to link to. So, if you’re interested in trying yet another way to market your blog, check out their posts and try it out yourself.
