I’ve written before on how marketing and persistence are the keys to success. I still agree with this assertion, however, I have to say now that it all does come down to perseverance.

To me, persistence and perseverance are two different things. Persistence means just keeping at it, whatever it is. The word, perseverance, however, describes a determined effort to succeed, no matter what obstacles are placed in the way. It’s about getting through the tough times, not necessarily unscathed, but undaunted.

One of my biggest daily struggles with this blog is actually blogging. What I mean is that it’s often difficult for me to write something every day. I have an endless number of ideas to write about, though. That’s not the problem. The problem lies in finding the energy and passion necessary to sustain the kind of effort it takes to be an active and creative blogger.

In the press of lives full of urgent things, many of us find ourselves constantly having to shuffle things around to get something done each day. Examining our priorities and putting first things first can help with this a great deal. Sometimes writing that blog entry isn’t the most important thing on the list.

It’s tempting every so often to say, “I just can’t do this” or “I can’t keep this up.” Sometimes it’s better to just put off writing a post for a little while. The important thing, though, is to not give up. Put off writing your post for a day, but not a week. Let two or three days go by without a post if you absolutely have to, but not two or three weeks.

One thing that I find useful in my own blogging is to try to incorporate the lessons I find in life around me. If you’ve been reading FreshBlogger for a while you will have noticed this. All the little painful and frustrating events of life can hold crystals of wisdom. There is much to be learned from observation and reflection.

Ultimately, if you give up, you have no chance of succeeding as a blogger or as anything else in your life. Reach down inside yourself and find that energy somewhere; force it out if you have to. Don’t be put off by the difficulties you face. It should be hard sometimes if you’re really making progress. If you’re willing to stick with it through good times and bad, though, if you’re willing to persevere, you will be successful at whatever you do.

Persistance is to use solid-rock “items” for your gosal. Perseverence is to keep being persistent. Both are part or tools of commitment. When you set a goal, you set a commitment for yourself.

For me, blogging is not only writing an article every day on my blog. Is also reading others blogs and forums, ones I think worth to return everyday. Like this one. Posting in your blog everyday is on dayly tasks and doesn`t not support the “I`ll do it tomorow”. No matter if you write for 2, 300 or only yourself. You decided to post dayly, just do it.

    Keep it up high, Ray.

You said “daily struggles with this blog is actually blogging.” – Maybe you blog just for money, and when you do something just for money is like a job. You don’t find please in doing it. Maybe you should find what you really love.

I can say that I really love blogging, and is a part of my life.

Hi Valentin. I agree with all you’ve said. Good points. Blogging is about a lot more than just slapping together a post or two every day. It definitely helps to have a habit of setting aside time every day for writing a post and also for checking out other blogs. Thanks!

Hey Michael. You’re always so tough on me! LOL. You’ve once again brought up another very good point. I actually don’t blog just for money, although money is definitely a part of it.

Blogging for me is a continual exploration. It’s an exploration of how things fit together not just on the internet, but in all aspects of life. It’s been a way for me to find answers to the questions that are on my mind every day. People like you come here then and join in the conversation and really help me to learn more and more. Thanks for another insightful comment!

For me, perseverance is feeling really bored or demotivated about something but DECIDING to do it anyways. DECISION is the bigger part of it.

Hi Maggie. That’s a great definition. It’s very powerful to make decisions, too. With so many choices every day, it’s so easy for us to be indecisive. Making a decision and sticking with it can also be useful in getting the issue out of our heads. Whether our decision is right or wrong, productivity is increased by not having to worry about it. Thanks for your comment!
