I've just started my own business on line and am finding 80% of my time is doing research to find out how to make it successful. There are so many articles and so many opinions it's difficult to narrow them down and sort the real facts from the spammers trying to make a buck.

Regarding your article - I think it can be said that the 80/20 rule applies to most things in life and business. The more you use it the more successful you will be.

thanks for the post....
A Newbie.

Just knowing of the reality of the 80/20 Rule can be a powerful force in being more productive. I've noticed over the years that much of my efforts in any one area seem to bear little fruit, but that a fraction of those efforts often seemed to account for the majority of my successes. This article helps to make sense of the whole phenomenon and turn it into a useful tool. Thanks for a great post, Vince!

Well said, most people burn their energy unnecessarily, and they can do more productivity if they work smarter and not harder.

Awesome post! :-)

The key is in working out which are the most profitable 20% of what you do.

I imagine this would involve some pretty heavy soul searching, as nobody likes to think that they are wasting their time

Adnan,

Glad you liked it!

I see the same trend on my own blog, about 20% of my articles account for 80% of the traffic, comments and links. Once I have a lot of content I can use that information to narrow down my niche and focus on articles that my readers respond well too.

Hey Vince - gotta say awesome post man - definitely didn't disappoint me.

Yeah the 80/20 rule is something I try to apply to blogging especially. 20% of your articles will account for 80% of your traffic. I know this is especially true because I've had some big articles which still manage to sustain my overall blog traffic.

Great post and thanks again ;)
