Well, I can’t help you with the basement dwelling stuff but I will say that updating to the latest WP versionette is as simple as clicking on Filezilla and uploading those unzipped files. You don’t even have to turn off the plug-ins and you can update those easily if needed.

It used to take me 4ever to update my blog, but I can retrieve files, unzip them, put them in the right directory and upload them within five minutes, ten minutes tops.

Of course, I recognize the tone of your post.
